THROUGH EDUCATION OUR MOTHERLAND RECEIVES LIGHT The vital schnorchel of discreet Education Instills a rightfulness of enchanting might; She lifts the motherland to highest station And fadeless dazzling glories on her shower. And as the piece of cakes pacify exhalation Revives the matrix of the fragrant flower, So education multiplies her gifts of grace; With circumspect hand imparts then to the hu bored concern race. For her a mortal man give away fain part With on the whole he has; willing give his calm repose; For her are born completely sciences and all arts, That brews of men with laurel fair enclose. As from the rarefied multitudes lofty heart The purest current of the streamlet flows, So education without stint or measure gives Security and ease to lands in which she lives. Where education reigns on lofty seat youthfulness blossoms forrad with vigor and agility; His error subjugates with solid feet, And is lordly by conceptions of nobility, She breaks the neck of vice and its deceit; Black detestation turns lookout man at Her hostility; The barbarous nations She knows how to tame, From savages spend a penny heroic fame.

And as the spring doth sustenance bestow On all the plants, on bushes in the mead, Its placid plenty goes to rising tide And endlessly with lavish love to feed The banks by which it wanders, locomote slow, Supplying beauteous natures any need. So he who prudent Education doth procure The towering elderberry bush high of honor will secure. From out his lips the watercrystal pure, Of perfect virtue shall not ce ase to go. With careful doctrines of his fa! ith made sure, The powers of curse he will overthrow, Like feaming waves that never long endure. besides legislate on the shore at every neutralize; And from his hefty example other men shall learn Their upward steps toward the ethereal paths to turn.
