Manolin demonstrates his love for Santiago openly, He makes sure that the old man has food, blankets, and can rest without macrocosm bothered. At the end of the story, Manolin seems to be the only character who realizes how often Santiago has scarce been through, since he breaks down and cries several times. *The Marlin: Although he does not give tongue to and we can not read his mind, the marlin is sure as pip an important character in the story. This fish was18 feet long and 1500 pounds and Santiago spent almost of the story tracking, killing, and attempting to b hollo him home.
